Joan Armatrading - Drop The Pilot (frame rate corrected)
(HQ digital stereo remaster) This clip was filmed at 24 fps with the audio slowed down by 4%, so that it could be played back at 25 fps on TV with the audio back at the right speed. But someone in the editing suite didn't get the memo, and instead of just copying the film frames to video to play back at the faster rate, the frames were interlaced to create a 25 fps video version without changing the duration of the clip. Result - a slightly blurry clip with audio too slow. But stereomusicvideo to the rescue! I have re-created the original film frames from the interlaced version and play them back at 25 fps so that the audio is at the right speed. Compare it to the CD version and you'll hear I'm right! This is also the only logo- and title-free copy of this clip on YouTube, and from a PAL source, so that the colours are as they were intended, and not totally screwed up like some of the NTSC transfers. You don't all need to thank me at once...
