Based in London, Kadija Kamara is a singer songwriter who best describes her sound as ‘Alternative Soul’. With a love of 60’s and 70’s analogue sounds, Kadija combines her affinity for retro soul music with a host of modern influences. To date, her accomplishments include winning the MTV Iggy Artist Of The Week poll and getting awarded PRS For Music Individual funding for her Artist Development Programme. Previous collaborations include the likes of Joey Negro, Zeb Bias and many more, and she’s released records under various labels, including Z Records, Defected, and Soul Heaven. Kadija recently curated a night called Lady, which showcases leading female musicians within the underground and commercial music scene. She’s currently holding a residency at The Finsbury, Manor House, with promoters Lost In The Manor. With her incredibly rich vocals, (at times recalling the homeliness of classic soul and Americana vocalists like Aretha and The Shirelles), and her sexy visceral sound, it’s looking like the music that Kadija releases this year will be her finest work yet. There’s nobody doing things quite like how she is right now, and the results she’s finding are unique, vital, and exceptional.
