"Ghosts" was initially written while the husband and wife team of Katherine and Wilson Brown were traveling through the desert area around Zaragoza, Spain. "It reminded us of the American West," explains Wilson, "'Ghosts' is about the broad idea of Manifest Destiny, exploration and exploitation of people and resources, building and leaving behind." With it's history of Spaghetti Westerns, filming in Spain only seemed fitting, with the Spanish production house, Dvein, embracing the collaboration.

With the monumental efforts of over 140 artists, animators, and filmmakers, the video for "Ghosts" explores the concept of an irresistible American destiny. Dvein was particularly inspired by the 1872 John Gast painting, American Progress, where Columbia, a giant woman, lead the settlers into the dark West taking their new technology. "That triggered the idea for the music video," explains Dvein, "a colorful psychedelic alien that arrives to an ancient settlement and fascinate them with his delightful movements and extravagant colors but hidden intentions, a fun and playful approach to a concept as ambiguous as the manifest destiny.”

"Ghosts" is featured on Alagoas' debut self-titled album, released digitally late last year. The physical release comes in the form of a limited edition white vinyl with album artwork by Alex Trochut, known for his art and design for such musicians as Katy Perry, ASTR, The Decemberists and Wiz Khalifa. The limited vinyl edition is available now on Alagoas' webstore.
