For the video to Barragán’s whispery chamber-pop ballad “The One I Love,” Blonde Redhead turned to their old friend Jem Cohen. The director painted a moody portrait of a rainy day in Manhattan that expertly complements the song’s understated beauty. Here’s what singer Kazu Makino had to say about the collaboration: We used to be very close with Jem when we started playing shows and following Fugazi around with our blue van. What we have here in “The One I Love” video embodies who Jem is. You see what he sees, what he feels, and what he sees in us.
It’s a lovely video for an equally lovely song, so press play and enjoy. -- Stereogum
