Last night, Dev Hynes released his new Blood Orange album Freetown Sound a few days early. Since he hadn’t shared any of the tracks early, the album didn’t really have a single, but maybe it has one now. This morning, Hynes shared his new video for the diffuse reverie “Augustine.” Hynes directed the clip himself — just as he produced his entire album — and it’s a beautifully shot, warmly affirming piece of work. In the video, we see Hynes making music in an empty dance studio, dancing on rooftops and in parks, and eating fried chicken with Julian Casablancas. Throughout, he captures New York at its softly-lit golden-hour best.
