Directed by Sebastien Duguay

French-Canadian singer-songwriter Charlotte Cardin beautifully blends modern electro production with the timeless traditions of classic jazz and pop stylings. Cardin has a gorgeous croon that powerfully cuts through sparse soundscapes with unabashed vulnerability. She’s set to release her new Big Boy EP later this summer and the first single is the melancholy, disarming “Faufile,” which translates to “to sneak away.” Along with director and good friend Sebastien Duguay, Cardin has given the song a visual accompaniment. She wanders through London and Paris mourning a love lost, roaming and exploring her emotions in the same way she meanders through the cities. Her classic vocal and minimal arrangement take on the feel of a dramatic score as the camera follows her capturing her exploration of self against pretty, gloomy urban vignettes. The song is in French, but you don’t need to speak a word to connect with her raw, exposed emotion as she’s “wandering through different parts of these cities looking for the one that slipped away.”
