From the debut album "Spend the Night With..." out 8/5/16.
NYC underground punk crew Cheena — whose lineup includes Pharmakon’s Margaret Chardiet and members of Hank Wood & the Hammerheads and Crazy Spirit — play the sort of enduring rock ‘n’ roll that will always exist as long as people live in the big cities, indicative of a symbiotic relationship in which the music feeds off the dirt and grime of a city, and that city subsumes all of the messiness of the people who create it. Cheena’s put out a few tracks since they formed in 2014, and now they’re gearing up to release Spend A Night With…, their debut full-length. “Stupor,” the album’s second single following the hooky “Car,” is sloppy and snarling, just like the environment where it was bred. It’s accompanied by a video directed by Cheena drummer Eugene Terry and Robin Pak that shows the band messing around in New York City’s muck. -- Stereogum
