Courtney Barnett has been performing a lot of covers lately; just last month we heard her Jack White-produced rendition of the Boys Next Door’s “Shivers,” and a week or so later she and Paul Kelly released their version of Archie Roach’s “Charcoal Lane.” Barnett recently graced Austin City Limits attendees with a cover of the Australian band You Am I’s 1998 single “Heavy Heart,” which is her favorite song. Patti Smith’s Horses turns 40 next month, and Barnett performed in a tribute concert celebrating the seminal album at Melbourne’s Town Hall back in October. Watch her performance of the classic “Redondo Beach” above. -- Stereogum
