Edith Crash hails from the south of France but is currently based in L.A., and she's gearing up to take her latest material on the road to Canada this spring. Before she touches down for Canadian Music Week, though, we're giving you the exclusive first look at the singer's brand new video for "Sur le Bord de la Route."
The song comes from her latest record Partir, which was released last fall, and it was inspired by a peculiar observation and revelation back in Crash's homeland.
"The song was written in France," she tells Exclaim! "I would take the same road every day and constantly drive by the same man walking alone on a desolate path bordering a small freeway. I noticed how everyone was driving along, self-absorbed, and how this man was invisible to the people. Watching him walk in the same spot began to feel like a vision. I had the sensation that he was trapped in a circle and we tried to convey this feeling with the video."
That sentiment certainly translates to film, accompanied by gorgeous shots of the Joshua tree-laden deserts of California. The titular character — the man on the side of the road - is played by Teddy Quinn, as he's as emotive as the dramatic landscape around him. The clip was directed by Florencia P. Marano. -- Exclaim!
