From the album "Year of the Rabbit," to be released April 15 on Double Double Whammy.

Eskimeaux’s Gabrielle Smith writes songs about attempted intimacy, about the effort required to breach the space between yourself and the person you want to be near to. Not all of the relationships she sings about are romantic, but when they are her lyrics seem particularly pointed. On “Drunk,” from her upcoming Year Of The Rabbit, Smith sings about what it’s like to live in New York and be too busy to spend time with someone you’re in love with. “My life has become/ A series of/ “What are you doing tonight?”‘s/ And “Oh my gosh, that’s right/ It’s the 24th already/ Another show in Brooklyn.” She shouts-out the intersection of Myrtle and Broadway before arriving at a final revelation: “I don’t ‘just wanna fuck’/ I wanna show you love.” Watch Smith’s self-edited, Don Engle-directed video for the track above.
