'Wake Up' is the first offering from Brisbane all-girl band Foxsmith. Recorded at Blackbox Studios in April this year with local engineers/whiz kids Meisha Stevens and Jeff Lovejoy, Wake Up is a breath of fresh air, where fantasy is breathed in deeply and dreamy lust is sighed out. Packed full of catchy riffs, smooth vocals and groove-pop goodness, the single is a snug fit into their live show, which encompasses jangly, garage pop tunes through to darker, shimmering soundscapes drawing comparisons to The Cure, Warpaint and the like. The girls made their humble beginnings in the Brisbane live music scene in 2011 under their previous name ‘Foxes’, playing throughout Brisbane’s favourite venues and gaining airplay on local community radio stations. 2013 began with a short spell away from the gigging scene while the girls honed in on new material and began pre-production for their debut EP, due for release later next year. 'Wake Up' is the first taste of what is yet to come from Foxsmith, and will see the all-girl outfit play a string of Brisbane shows throughout November and video launch dates in Brisbane and Sydney in December.
