In honour of Jagged Little Pill's 20th anniversary, we asked a few Canadian musicians to choose their favourite Alanis song from the 1995 album and make it their own. First up, we had Terra Lightfoot's gorgeous cover of "Head Over Feet," which you can check out here: https://youtu.be/Oswr4BFZOTM
Now we have F--ked Up's cover of "All I Really Want," and it's a bit of a wonder. "Alanis, wordsmith," growls frontman Damien Abraham before launching into the opening track of Jagged Little Pill, which gets a distinctly different life through his snarls and howls. Check it out above.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Alanis Morissette's 1995 smash Jagged Little Pill, and to celebrate, Toronto hardcore heroes Fucked Up have covered "All I Really Want."
The band remain fairy faithful to the original arrangement, with a slight hip-hop lilt to the rhythms and some subtle wah-wah on the guitar. The twist comes in the form of frontman Damian Abraham, who screams bloody murder and delivers all of the lyrics in a throaty growl. The whole thing ends with an outro in which Abraham performs goofy dances and delivers a freestyle about wanting peace and justice.
The 20th anniversary deluxe reissue of Jagged Little Pill will come out on Friday (October 30) through Rhino. -- Exclaim!
