Icelandic seven-piece Hjaltalín have been around for almost a decade and their third long player Enter 4 won universal acclaim, with The Sunday Times hailing it as a masterpiece.
“I Feel You” is one of the record’s most stirring tracks and gets a visual – premiering today on Best Fit – courtesy of debut filmmakers Snorri Eldjárn Snorrason and Hörður Sveinsson.
“We wanted to show a visual experience of a certain state of mind,” they explain, “a conflict between the mind and body, reality vs. surreality. It is a journey to the deepest trench of the subconsciousness.”
Enter 4 intricately documents the personal breakdown by chief songwriter Högni Egilsson and “I Feel You” resonates with the album’s wider theme. “It’s an Eno-esque ballad,” says Egilsson, “a bittersweet come down anthem wrapped in towering shoegaze textures, kept on time by occasional drum machine hits and aching with a desire to connect, to feel someone.”
For his part in the video, Egilsson had to jump backwards from the top of a two metre high ladder into a 2,000 litre fish tank. Watch the stunning clip above.
Enter 4 is out now.
