"Year 3000" is a pop punk song performed by English boyband Busted, released as the second single from their debut album Busted. The song was written by Busted's lead-guitarist James Bourne and it makes references to the Back to the Future trilogy, including lines about the flux capacitor, and the fact that the time machine mentioned is "like the one in a film I've seen". "Year 3000" is of Busted's most popular songs.
In 2006, James Bourne permitted the Jonas Brothers to make a cover of "Year 3000". To facilitate lyrical understanding in the prepubescent, all the sexually suggestive lyrics were simplified. To appeal to the younger audience, their version says that the Jonas Brothers' seventh album outsold Kelly Clarkson instead of Michael Jackson. In addition, the line "and your great-great-great granddaughter is pretty fine" is changed to "doin' fine".
