Coastal Frequencies Episode 5 ft. King Khan & the Shrines

Watch King Khan & the Shrines perform "Land of the Freak,"I Wanna Be A Girl" and "Stone Soup."

Performance filmed on June 24, 2014 at Fortune Sound in Vancouver, BC.

King Khan and the Shrines have done lots of touring in support of Idle No More, and their Vancouver appearance from this past June has been documented for the latest episode of the Exclaim! co-presented video series Coastal Frequencies.

This rowdy, raucous performance was filmed at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. Khan shows up at the city's Fortune Sound Club wearing a feathered crown, purplish sequined shirt and hotpants-style boxer briefs. He holds court over a rowdy garage-soul party, at one point pulling the camera up to his crotch for some humping. The songs in this 16-minute clip - "Land of the Freak," "I Wanna Be a Girl" and "Stone Soup" - are intercut with interview footage featuring the man himself.
