Creative Direction by Kojey Radical & Most Popular Human
Produced by Charlie Di Placido
“Footsteps is a visual depiction of what it’s like to battle with self doubt within an industry designed to pigeon hole and categorise. A struggle that becomes more apparent as I grow as an artist and as a thinker. I’ve said it before, but I’m not here to be an example of the popular opinion, I’m here to offer the neglected perspective in a way that is undeniable. Whether I’m ostracised or celebrated for forward thinking - my wings are yet to form.”
Kojey Radical is always going to do things on his terms.
Continuing to challenge the status quo and disturb the equilibrium, the London-based artist shares the visual for 'Footsteps', taken from his critically acclaimed 23 Winters EP (which was released earlier this year). Directed by long time collaborators THE REST with creative direction courtesy of Craig Most Popular Human and Radical himself, the visual is a "vivid portrayal of internal struggle and a depiction of human resilience" as Kojey - quite graphically - deals with his own personal demons. Lyrically, the track talks of his position and often frustrations as a poet in today's music industry, his hopes for his family and the struggles of his surroundings. The video sees ameo appearances from model Harry Uzoka as well as performances from Kaner Flex and WET WIPEZ, who is probably known more recently for his work and collaborations with FKA twigs.
