Music video by Lady Gaga performing The Edge Of Glory. (C) 2011 Streamline/Kon Live/Interscope.
"The Edge of Glory" is a song by American recording artist and songwriter Lady Gaga taken as the third single from her second studio album Born This Way. Written by Gaga, Fernando Garibay and DJ White Shadow, and produced by Gaga and Garibay, "The Edge of Glory" was released digitally on May 9, 2011, and was added to the United States mainstream radio playlists on May 17, 2011, as the first of two promotional singles before the album's release. Following the success of the song in digital outlets worldwide, it was announced that it would be given a full release.
The song contains several qualities similar to that of electro rock and, in particular, synthpop musical works. The solo was performed by saxophonist Clarence Clemons, a prominent member of The E Street Band. Inspiration for the song came from the death of Gaga's grandfather, who died in late 2010.
