The more we learn about Lykke Li‘s third album I Never Learn the more we realize exactly how sad of an album this one’s going to be. Talk of “star cross’d lovers” and failed relationships is abundant in the few cuts we’ve heard and in a statement she said, “I wrote ["No Rest for the Wicked"] in Sweden when I was packing up my shit, and I’d just gotten out of a relationship and it was a horrible time. I just had the hurt, shame, sadness, guilt, longing. In the verse, I’m referring to myself pleading guilty but I’m referring to all of us.”
A few weeks after the release of her second single “No Rest For The Wicked”, she’s just shared the dramatic video accompaniment directed by Tarik Saleh. It’s a heart wrenching story of a couple that had to part ways – showing the resulting aftermath and its effect on the young songstress. I Never Learn is out on May 6 in North America and May 5 internationally via LL/Atlantic. -- unrecorded.mu
