The new song from M. Ward's forthcoming album, MORE RAIN. (Merge Records & Bella Union)

Available everywhere on March 4, 2016

video produced by M. Ward and Carlos Forster

M. Ward is a man of many outfits, but since his all-star collaborations She & Him and Monsters Of Folk have been relatively quiet, he’s returning to his solo brand of refined folk-rock with More Rain this spring. He released the lead single “Girl From Conejo Valley” late last year, and today it receives a matching set of visuals by Ward and Carlos Forster. The video is fittingly shot in California’s lesser known Conejo Valley, and the lush, sprawling landscapes make for captivating imagery. Paired with Ward’s storytelling and character development in the song, the clip has an interesting couples narrative with a some dark imagery of ruby-eyed rabbits in sharp contrast to picturesque greenery and hillsides. It may seem random, but the Conejo Valley is also nicknamed “Rabbit” valley. What really comes out of nowhere is the scuba guitar solo, but it’s pretty damn awesome.
