The first time a video is requested here we have to fetch the information from the MTV site, so that takes a while. It can be several seconds between your click and the page loading. Just be patient, that's perfectly normal.
The returned information is then stored in a local cache here on our server, so the next time that same video is requested the page loads almost immediately.
The MTV API is still officially in beta, that means they are still actively working on it and unfortunately every now and then they're breaking it too, as we noticed. So if a video doesn't load just look for another one.
Not all videos are accessible by viewers everywhere, some - fortunately only a minority of them - are restricted to specific countries like the U.S. and Canada. If the player does not load or it displays as a white rectangle instead, that's probably because the video is not allowed for your region. Some results returned by the search might be affected by that. For example: I get a whole page of Radiohead videos returned as search result, but I can't watch any of them due to my location. People in another geographical location will be able to watch them without a problem.
New Videos are being added every day by the hundreds, all videos from all Viacom music sites, that is MTV, VH1, CMT and LOGO will gradually be made available.
Flash and Javascript required
The Flash Player browser plugin is required to be able to watch video on this site. This site will also not work if you have javascript turned off in your browser or are using a noscript extension.
For various reasons, security not the least of them, please always use the latest version of any browser. We tested with and can recommend Opera and Firefox. Feel free to report any issues you might have on the blog

All videos are from mtvmusic.com, VH1.com, CMT.com and LOGO.com.
None of the videos on this site are hosted on this server. We use special MTV API technology that allows us to embed videos from their sites. Even if you don't see any logo from the original site the video file itself is still hosted by MTV on their servers and not here. We're loading their player on these pages. If there are any DMCA copyright issues, you'll have to contact MTV. We can not remove any file from a server we don't have access to.
All videos on this site are embedded using the official API interface as provided by MTV and this in accordance and in full compliance with their terms of service.

All systems go, site was updated with extra functionality on November 21st 2009.
On the browse and artist pages, hover/hold your mouse over the video thumbnail image to see in what countries that video can be viewed.
Remember that Viacom had announced they were gonna shut down the API in March 2009, it is unclear why it is still working or for how long, so enjoy it while it's here, it might be gone tomorrow.
