Aus dem Album "Made in Germany"! Mehr unter: www.nena.de www.facebook.com/NENAofficial
A lot of time has passed since 99 Luftballons.. the Deutsche Neue Welle girly icon of the early 80s has grown into a beautiful woman, she's a grandmother by now, and she may not have the greatest voice in the universe, but she sure knows how to use it. A beautiful live performance of an exquisite song, just listen to those lyrics. I bumped into it yesterday on youtube - it's been out for a while now - and I went all quiet and Wow.
Only very rarely do I bump into something that really impresses and touches me and moves me almost to tears. This was one of those rare moments. I always have had a weakness for the German language (Goethe, Nietzsche, Hesse). The fact that one of my grand parents had German roots, and I know the language from childhood, probably helped.
Music and lyrics are both written by Nena herself by the way.
