Alan Palomo's new Neon Indian LP VEGA INTL. Night School crossed his original chillwave approach with the gloss of '80s-era R&B. The latter seems to have been an inspiration to the new short film Slumlord Rising, a retro-leaning look on Los Angeles night life with a bit of a chaotic edge.

As you'll see above, the video takes place in and out of a popular night club, with various joggers, glammy ladies and briefcase-toting scumbags looking to make their way in for a dance or two. The night takes a turn for the worse, though, when a gang of guys with guns stop by to do more than the electric shuffle.

From there, you're treated to deception, shady deals, and a midnight motorcycle ride. The soundrack combines VEGA INTL. Night School's "Slumlord" and "Slumlord's Re-Release".

You can peep all the grisly details of the video, co-directed by Palomo and Tim Nackashi. above.
