On December 11, 1992 (Paul was 50 years old that day), Paul McCartney decided to record a performance for a TV show called "Up Close". He performed in the Ed Sullivan theatre where the Beatles performed back in 1964. So it has been more than 28 years since the Beatles' performance there. This was just Paul's thing to promote his upcoming album "Off the Ground" which was released about 2 months after this in February 1993. Also the same month and year that he would start his "The New World Tour".
