"Barrel Fire" off Peregrine Fall's 2014 EP Two Fish
Directed by Jamie-Leigh Gonzales

In addition to playing in Dan Mangan's band Blacksmith, guitarist Gord Grdina and drummer Kenton Loewen play together in a host of projects, including the free-rock duo Peregrine Falls. The Vancouverites released an EP called Two Fish last year, and now they've rolled out a video for the cut "Barrel Fire."

The abstract instrument cut sports jazzy, tumbling grooves with complex, tightly-wound avant-blues licks. This provides the frantic soundtrack for a portrait of decades past, as the accompanying visuals consist of scratchy black and white archival footage and some old nature docs. There's not a clear message or narrative to all of the visuals, but it's an interesting glimpse into what life was like in the early-middle 20th century.

The video was made by Jamie-Leigh Gonzales.
