When Post Malone first emerged and started giving interviews, he kept talking about how influenced he was by folk, country, and hip-hop. It was his goal to blur the lines between the three as he made more music.
We’d watched videos of him covering Bob Dylan right next to hip-hop heavy singles like “White Iverson” but we hadn’t seen him blend the two styles quite like he’d talked about. “Go Flex” achieves that. Jangly acoustic guitars join heavy atmospheric basslines and imagery of the Texas countryside collides with gold teeth and chains. This is what he was talking about.
