"Rise" is a song released by post-punk group Public Image Ltd. in 1986 from their album Album.

Written by John Lydon about the issue of apartheid in South Africa, which was a very prevalent issue in the 1980s, the song is a departure from the group's regular punk sound, featuring a somewhat haunting backing and lyrics. It was one of the group's biggest commercial hits, peaking at #11 on the UK Singles Chart and being featured on albums in both the Hits and Now That's What I Call Music! series in the UK. The song was featured in the films The Rules Of Attraction and The Promotion.

This song is notable as guitar legend Steve Vai contributes his guitar work to the track instead of the group's regular guitarist, Keith Levene.

The song was covered by Australian Industrial Metal band Jerk on their debut album When Pure Is Defiled. It was also covered by Tripping Daisy on the EP Time Capsule (1997).

Public Image Ltd. (PiL) are an English musical group formed in 1978 by vocalist John Lydon, guitarist Keith Levene and bassist Jah Wobble, with frequent subsequent personnel changes.

Rising from the ashes of the pivotal punk rock group the Sex Pistols, PiL branched out to a more experimental sound, and their early work is often regarded as some of the most challenging and innovative music of the post-punk era: the NME described PiL as "arguably the first post-rock group". Their later music would be somewhat more conventional, and although PiL have been inactive since 1992, Lydon (the band's only constant member) considers the group "on hiatus" rather than broken up. In September 2009, it was announced that Lydon would reform the group in December 2009.
