'Happy To Be' Is released on the 25th November through The A&R Department.
Readable Graffiti are back with a new single, “Happy to Be”, a melodic and energetic indie electro-?pop tune about memories, friendship and saying “auf wiedersehn”. “Happy to Be” is the band’s most polished and lush work to date. The music is a mix of joyful melodies, rich harmonies, bumping beats, stacks of synths and a plaintive piano riff, while the lyrics are a heart-?felt shout out to all those people for whom the boys are “happy to be a happy memory”. “The song is dedicated to all those people we’ve met along the way – from the girl I danced with when I was 14 and obsessed over until recently, to all of our oldest friends” said Christian Graffiti. Buttons and Chris agree, with Chris adding that it goes out to “all our homies”. The new single follows the huge critical success of the 2012 “Male Mood Swings” EP and tour. The reviews called it “a truly excellent and exciting listen” from “One of the most promising bands this country has to offer in 2012", and “a 4am pick-?me-?up dance party...a fuller, more mature sound that captures the zing and wit of the band’s live show". Triple J also got behind the EP, with The Aston Shuffle, Rosie Beaton and Dave Ruby Howe all giving it their support. To top it off, the lads were nominated by a panel industry judges for Best Artist and Best Live Act in the inaugural Music ACT Music Awards (the MAMAs). The single was produced, engineered and mixed by Yen Nguyen (who also recorded the “Male Mood Swings” EP) at the Ten Kinds of Handsome mansion in Melbourne, and mastered by the inimitable Jack The Bear.
