The film that rocked a generation. Award winner for film and movie. Featuring new music from todays biggest songs!
At long last, BC band Slam Dunk have delivered their tour documentary mockumentary, Playing With Fire. The Victoria garage punk unit's full-length movie about a tour they didn't actually undertake with Arcade Fire is streaming now, and it's glorious.
As previously reported, the film explores the premise that Slam Dunk went on tour with the Canadian indie giants. Though they did technically both play the Squamish Valley Music Festival in 2014, the rest of the trip totally did not happen. All the same, you'll find Slam Dunk riffing on the theme with a fake travelogue.
You'll see some performances from Slam Dunk, a bit of on-the-road tour banter, a run-in with a Mariachi band, an amazing cut scene about "falling in love with a champagne so bubbly, it keeps you up at night," and more. Best yet, it features a totally legit live clip of tour buddies "The Firemen" treating a festival crowd to their splendid Celtic folk hit, "Irish Lad."
It's a pretty damned determined joke to run for over an hour, and it contains a whole lot of weirdness. You can give Playing With Fire a look above. -- Exclaim!
