After producing, writing and working with some of Australia’s finest upcoming indie artists including Polarheart, Carley Austin, Emma Mylott, TIA and Luke Zancanarro, the boys at Studio Sonik have written and produced their own EP, with the new single ‘Predator’ to be released in October through The A&R Department.
Looking for creative freedom that producing your own music gives, David and Daniel of SONIK have spent the past year creating tracks – in between working and writing with some of the finest young talent in the country. The songs will feature some of these amazing singers that SONIK have had the pleasure to work with in their short time together.
“We wanted to create something that we were really happy with and proud of,” says David of SONIK. “...There is so much amazing talent out in the Hills District of Sydney and we have been lucky enough to tap into this”.
The new single from the forthcoming EP is ‘Predator’, an Electronic-Pop track featuring unknown talent Emmanuel Derecho from Western Sydney, who is good friends with the SONIK boys.
“The songs lyrics explore a man so infatuated with a woman, he becomes oblivious to how she corrupts, torment’s & drains his life both emotionally and physically...” says Daniel when talking about the track.
In the song she’s depicted as a symbolic “predator”, and referred to as a Siren derived from Greek Mythology - a dangerous yet beautiful seductresses, which lured nearby sailors with their enchanting voices & beautiful features to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island.
The EP is entrenched in Electronic sounds that meld beau0fully with organic elements. The styles move through Electronic, Deep House, Downtempo and Trap. While the tracks have an Indie flavour and feel to them, you can definitely hear the pop overtones in this work. Look for the full EP to be released in 2016.
