The Bay Area lo-fi pop group Sonny & The Sunsets announced today that they’ll follow up last year’s Antenna To The Afterworld album with a new one called Talent Night At The Ashram, set to arrive early next year. Restless frontman Sonny Smith originally envisioned the album as a movie made up of a bunch of song-length short films. But the scripts turned into songs, and the movie became an album. First single “Cheap Extensions,” is a mumbling, shambling tune. Its new video, scrappily animated through underground-comics graphics, tells the story of a man who falls for a girl with multicolored hair extensions and then fights to get those extensions back when thieves steal them. Teppei Ando animated the video, and you can watch it above. -- Stereogum
