Australia-based dance-pop artist Starley releases her new music video for her debut single, "Call On Me." The inspiring, “love yourself” track peaked at #3 on Hype Machine, racked up over a million streams on Spotify, and smashed the charts – landing at #4 on the U.S Viral Chart, #9 on the Netherlands Viral charts, #3 on the New Zealand Viral Charts and so on. It also hit #4 on the Global Viral Chart!
Now, less than four weeks later, Starley is ready to release the video interpretation of the single. Visually calming and free-spirited, the video was shot at her favorite childhood destination, Kiama, in Australia, and shows the world that it’s okay to dream big – all you need to do is call on yourself to step up to the plate.
“I wrote this song when I was at a low point in my life,” said Starley. “I wrote it in my bedroom late one night, on the keyboard. Since I can remember, all I’ve wanted to do was write and sing. I even moved country to pursue my dream and spent years in London, struggling with money, but still believing I would make it. I’d finally got to the point where I was feeling helpless and wanted to give up. I was thinking of walking away from music altogether. That reality was heartbreaking for me. One night, this song just poured out of me. It became a way of telling myself it was going to be ok, almost like an encouragement. It was as if I had created my own lighthouse, a beacon to help me realise my dreams are not impossible. I can do this. I’ll figure it out. I just need to follow my intuition and essentially call on myself.”
The track has already caught the eyes and ears of global tastemakers, “Starley receives a breezy electronica backbone that hoists her irresistibly catchy lyrics into the spotlight and adhere in the memories of listeners. Presenting a standout tune with commercially-appealing characteristics, the Sydney-based vocalist may be making her way stateside sooner than fans think,” said Dancing Astronaut. Music Is My Life states that “Starley is a fresh face in the dance music scene,” Pop On And On calls her the "next big Aussie import," and EDM Sauceclaims Starley could be "the next Ellie Goulding!!"
Starley is a dance-pop artist signed to Tinted Records in Australia. Influenced by the music she listened to growing up, combined with her multi-racial background, Starley’s musical style has developed into a unique fusion of genres, all routed in pop music. Originally hailing from Sydney, Starley moved to London to pursue a career in music and landed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV UK. That opportunity provided her with the ability to learn more about the craft of songwriting, while collaborating with a wide range of producers and writers throughout London, Sweden, and the U.S. Last year, Starley returned to Australia to focus on her own project, where she was discovered by Tinted Records and quickly joined their roster. Starley was recently featured on Odd Mob’s uplifting 90’s throwback, “Into You,” championed by legendary tastemakers Annie Mac, Oliver Heldens, and Danny Howard. With almost 1 million plays online, “Into You ft. Starley” spent a phenomenal 7 weeks topping the ARIA Club Charts, making it the highest-performing club track of 2016. It also spent 5 weeks within the Shazam Top 50, reaching #14 in Sydney, and was labeled #5 Future Hits. Starley is back with “Call On Me,” the debut single off her upcoming album. “Call On Me” is a guitar-based dance record, written by Starley as a way of supporting herself through some personal trials in her life at the time.
Starley cannot believe the instant support. "I really had no idea that this song would catch on so fast! It's amazing to know that people are connecting with it across the globe,” she says.
