From dreamy soundscapes to slacker fuzz pop, Suburban Haze weaves together an ethereal experience.
Formed in late 2012, the quartet recorded their first EP within a few months. This saw them gain support slots for bands like Gatherer (NZ), Safe Hands, Oslow, The Sinking Teeth, Maids, Valjean and Drunk Mums just to name a few. Their dynamic sound ensures that the band is never out of place, no matter the show.
Combining DIY punk ethos with the sounds of alternative rock, shoe-gaze and indie, they’ve toured the east coast and impressed crowds with their passionate stage performances. Their debut EP has made the rounds on Triple J Unearthed, appearing on Rosie Beaton’s program and reaching Top 10 position in the Unearthed charts. Suburban Haze has just finished recording a full-length album slated for release in September.
Extreme Right is the first single off the full-length album ‘New Coliseum’ by Suburban Haze, which is set for release in September. Recorded at KdF Recordings with engineer Mat Taylor and mastered by Joe Andersons the song is one of the more energetic and upbeat songs on the album.
“It was this song that really kicked off the writing process for the full album, we’d done demos for a few songs but ended up scrapping them. Once this song was done though we found the direction we wanted to head in.” – Suburban Haze
From gritty rock to swamp-style groove, the song is a grim take on classic sounds.
