A Party Product Joint

From the LP Legerdemain, available March 17, 2015 from

Video by Sur Une Plage

It won't be long before bouncy Vancouver synth-pop unit Sur Une Plage put out their debut LP, Legerdemain. As previously reported, some songs had appeared in an online single series, but the band are now treating them to a proper full-length release. To give us a better idea of what's in store, the duo are premiering a video for the set's "Minimum".

Early on, the track is driven by a minimalist sizzle of white noise and the plaintive vocals of Colin McKill, but synth wiz Joshua Wells is quick to usher in a complex whirlwind of vintage analogue keyboard tones. Though the multilayered bit of musicality has a bit of a retro edge to it, recalling Yaz at times, Sur Un Plage's latest single is a fresh look at Black Mountain/Lightning Dust member Wells' current project.

As for the video, it presents a foggy journey through an East Vancouver alley, as well as body-wiggling dance party in front of a squiggly, sine wave-aping set of projections. You'll find the visuals for "Minimum" above.

Legerdemain lands March 17 through the band's own Party Product imprint.
