"Perfect Day" is a song written by Lou Reed in 1972, originally featured on Transformer, Reed's second post-Velvet Underground solo album. Its fame was given a boost in the 1990s when it was featured in the 1996 film Trainspotting, and after its release as a star-studded charity single in 1997. Reed re-recorded the song for his 2003 album The Raven.

In September, 2010, Susan Boyle was scheduled to perform the song on an episode of America's Got Talent, but permission was withheld. At first it was believed that Reed himself had vetoed the performance, but it was later claimed that a "licensing glitch" was to blame, and Reed knew nothing of the decision. Regardless, the song is the lead single and lead track from/on her second album The Gift.
