New song, "Aorta" by Tanya Tagaq.
Produced by Jesse Zubot.

Video filmed on location at Emanuel Vigeland Museum, Oslo, Norway, by Light Echo Productions.

Tanya Tagaq won the 2014 Polaris Music Prize with her album Animism, and now the celebrated Inuk throat singer has shared a brand new tune called "Aorta" along with an accompanying video.

Like Animism, the song was produced by violinist Jesse Zubot, and it was created specially to accompany footage filmed at Oslo, Norway's Emanuel Vigeland Museum. The song pairs the guttural intensity of Tagaq's throat singing with ominously pounding beats, while a few atmospheric background tones enrich the soundscape. As for the video, we see ancient-looking paintings while Tagaq dances, snarls and writhes amidst shadows.

Tagaq explained the video with the following statement:
This video was made to pay homage to Emanuel Vigeland, whose frescos fill his own mausoleum. The frescos depict life from conception to death. This penetration of the unsaid philosophies of life in conjunction with the outstanding acoustics of the room has inspired my own work since visiting there in 2002. Hopefully we encapsulate the darkness and the light to his liking.

It was filmed by Light Echo Productions.
