(HQ digital stereo remaster) For the first time in stereo, this is The Cars' first single, released in 1978. Although nominally a "live" clip, the studio recording (sped up nearly 6%) was used as the backing track, while Benjamin Orr sang the vocals live. I've put the studio recording back over the top so that Ben Orr is now lip-synching. Purists may hate me for it, but I reckon it sounds much better in crystal clear stereo. If you don't like it, there's other copies of this on YouTube in Lo-Fi, Mono, Pixellated form.

"Just What I Needed" is a song by the American rock band The Cars from their self-titled album in 1978 on Elektra Records. "Just What I Needed" is sung by The Cars' bass player Benjamin Orr. The song peaked at 17 in the UK and 27 in the US. This song first appeared in 1977 on a Boston radio station, WBCN, as a demo tape for The Cars. Shortly thereafter it became one of the station's most requested songs.
