Here's the music video for our upcoming debut single 'Alana'! It was shot in our lounge room a few weeks ago. The NSFW version is available in all good alleyways and seedy carparks. Enjoy.
Our good buddy Ben King helped us by pointing the lens of his camera at us and hitting record whilst we played the instruments we own in our lounge room in Perth during a hungover Saturday in summer in early 2014.
Thee Gold Blooms are a group of garage surf rock bums from Perth. In their short lifespan, Thee Gold Blooms have focused on tampering with classic sixties sounds and corrupting the innocent themes first experienced in the grooves of early Beach Boys, Kinks and Beatles records. They craft perfect little pop gems decorated with catchy melodies that provide a warm, sentimental familiarity – yet that sugary sweet goodness is always counterbalanced with a cheeky, drunken presentation. Definitely for fans of The Black Lips and Bleeding Knees Club. Recent accolades include supporting Canadian slack-rocker Mac DeMarco and Australian psych-rock band Wolf & Cub.
Their debut single ‘Alana’ is a short and sweet garage pop gem about new love. It’s an instantly familiar tune with a great sing-a-long chorus clocking in at less than two minutes - which is the same amount of time it took to write the song. It was recorded by the band in a small bedroom with the guys playing live, microphones haphazardly placed around the room.
“It’s actually about our bass player Goldy” says singer Jason Shaw who also wrote the tune, “It was written to give him a bit of stick after he had been seeing his girlfriend for about a week or two, but then we realised it was a decent little song so we put it in our live set… it must’ve worked ‘cos they’re still together”.
‘Alana’ will be released April 28th backed with ‘B’ Side ‘My Girlfriend’ an even shorter garage rock stomper!
