Sea to Sun Recordings' artist and Pop Icon, Traci Lords, has recorded her most powerful musical anthem to date with the release of her new single and music video, "Stupidville." The song was conceived when Lords, outraged by the specific details of the Steubenville Rape Trial, felt compelled to speak out, in order to reflect her own experience as a rape victim and to give a voice to the "Jane Doe's" of the world.
The song has already generated national media interest including interviews on national television and radio platforms including CNN's Piers Morgan Live, HuffPost Live, CBS's OMG! Insider, SiriusXM's The Morning Jolt with Larry Flick (Out-Q Radio), and more.
The musical composition, written with fellow Sea to Sun writer & artist, Sylvia Tosun and produced by Anton Bass & DJ Monikkr, starts clean and vulnerable, then gradually stirs into chaos, with an intensity that matches the subject matter. World-class drummer, Steve Hass, adds to the turbulence on this recording while Traci Lords delivers a searing vocal performance.
The raw intensity of the production on both the song and the video arose naturally from the need to call attention to the impending trial in Steubenville. With no time to waste, Traci and the Sea to Sun team wrote and recorded the song in less than a week. The video, which draws from Traci Lords' self-produced and directed short film Sweet Pea as well as current event footage and a PSA from Anonymous, was produced in less than 48 hours by Reality Engine Studios (Matyas Kelemen & Mikhail Gervits), and Chris Banuchi.
4 time Grammy Winner, Tom Lord-Alge, has mixed a new version of "Stupidville" to be included on Traci's upcoming EP (Sea to Sun - June 2013)
