"An electrifying new voice for rock's near future" - Pigeons and Planes
"Impossible to pin down, they deliver a drunken, stumbling, shambolic rock ’n roll that somehow keeps its shit together when the going gets tough. Truly, Trudy are something very special indeed" - DIY
“The off-kilter genre is a fusion of grungy garage rock and doo-wop-inspired instrumentals, combined with the metamorphic nature of frontman Oliver Taylor, whose voice seamlessly transitions between a fragile falsetto and guttural growls” - Consequence of Sound
“If anyone’s gonna do anything from Liverpool in the next 12 months, it’ll be this lot” - NME
The Trudy boys hit the seaside on a bad date with 10 delicious dancers. Olly dreams of what could be and everybody's going Wild in New Brighton. The video was created with Liverpool based creative agency Coney's Studio.
With the recent release of AA single He Sings/Wild (B3SCI Records), and having played to a packed crowd last week for what was their debut London headline, the Liverpool three piece continue to leave an impression.
‘He Sings’ debuted online in early May and bolted to no. 7 in the UK Spotify viral charts with support from Consequence of Sound, NME, DIY, Pigeons and Planes. Huw Stephens included the track in his Best of BBC Music Introducing and Steve Lamacq (having seen them at their London show) promptly made them his featured artist of the week.
With Trudy and the Romance's adopted city of Liverpool labelling their unique take of indie as 'mutant 50’s pop', 'Wild' stumbles in with whisky breath and a lascivious twinkle, sounding every bit as loose as we’ve come to expect. But beneath the wanton exterior there's a shambling, scream-along pop charm bursting through the seams. It's further proof that Trudy and the Romance are every bit the lovelorn salty sea dogs after all.
