Thank You to all the people reporting non-working videos.

Dailymotion: looks like Dailymotion has made some changes. Some thumbnails are broken and some videos don't play anymore, they get stuck with the message "Redirecting". I still haven't found out why that is or what's going on. Not all their videos have it, fortunately, so please report the ones that are no longer playing and I'll replace them if I can. There's no easy fix for the thumbnail problem either it seems.

MySpace: myspace has shut down their video API, after more than 5 years. Without a warning, without even as much as a single word. So much for corporate arrogance. It only affects a couple of thousand sites, but why would they care? That means we're stuck with their player and all its restrictions. MySpace seems to be turning into a US only platform, and therefore, pretty much useless to me, since I'm not in the US.

let's not kid ourselves; without all the dedicated and hard working people at record companies, labels, distribution networks and management and promotion agencies and of course all the artists and their crews, we'd soon be staring at a blank page here, so if there's something you really like, please consider buying it.

Time to finalize the major update/upgrade. With a fresh new look and some new functionalities.. enjoy!

Please Note: for HQ video Flash Player 10 or higher is required. Do a quick Flash Player Version Check. Also for security reasons, it is well worth the upgrade.

Internet Explorer users, please use a decent browser. This site is optimized for and works best with Chrome, Opera, Firefox and Safari. I'm fed up dealing with all the IE issues, so consider it an unsupported browser from now on. It may work and look OK or it may not, depending on your browser version and windows/flash security settings. Send your complaints to Redmond!

» About The Fuzzy Tube (updated 14-03-2010)...

This site doesn't intend to compete with any video site you might know. The idea was to filter some of the music videos that get posted on other sites and bring it all together here. Somebody called it myspace/youtube without all the bullshit. User generated content unfortunately has one major drawback, there's a lot of rubbish being posted, making finding interesting stuff challenging at times and close to impossible even sometimes. We intend to keep things here somewhat restricted and only post what lives up to some basic quality standards while still remaining open minded. We try to focus on quality and not so much on quantity.

This site is run by one person and our resources don't quite compare to youtube's, dailymotion's or myspace's - how's that for an understatement! - but we still hope you can enjoy the videos and most of all: the music.

What our ambitions are with this site? Maybe 4 to 5.000 vistors per day (we're almost there actually) that come here because they are interested in music, are looking to get acquainted with some new stuff or are open to discovering some older stuff. For ego trips in comments and silly and pointless discussions, I'd rather refer you to youtube, myspace, facebook etc. This place is about the music. It is a tribute, a thank you, if you will, to all musicians, labels and all involved. With a 25 year background in radio programming, I'm inclined to say, this site tries to do what radio once did, before it completely sold out and turned into "tunes in between the ads".

We are not a small start-up looking for ways to become the next big thing. We'd rather stay small and real, with a small audience of people that know how to appreciate something, than cater for the insatiable masses and their ever-changing whims.

From a technological point of view this site is a bit of an experiment. I am personally convinced that the search based model of youtube, myspace, vevo, MTV and others is seriously flawed, especially for music video sites, if their intention is to promote new or less known acts. The search paradigm, perfected by google, has a couple of serious problems, the major one being: in order to search you already have to know what to search for. How do you discover new things that you never heard of before? How do you rediscover old things you had forgotten all about? Well, not through search, that's for sure. That's why we have for example categories (genres) and a very strict use of tags and some other major and minor things that probably go unnoticed but play a major role in the concept.
Of course that will never work for mega acts like Lady GaGa etc. It would be absurd to think you could compete with youtube, vevo or myspace in that regard. But on the other hand, there are several hundreds of videos that have more views here, on this tiny site, than on myspace with it's millions of visitors every day. That raises some interesting questions, doesn't it? And finding the answers to those is what the whole experiment is about.
